NARIINSUKHAIT–SHIVEEKHUREN ROAD PROJECT
RDCC LLC entered into a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) concession agreement with the State Property Committee on October 26, 2011, in accordance with Government Resolution No. 262 of 2011. This concession agreement was the second of its kind in Mongolia and was notable as the first Build-Operate-Transfer concession in the country.
Route: Nariinsukhait–Shiveekhuren
Length: 43.2 km
Width: 16.8 m
Lanes: 3
Paving: Cement-concrete with a thickness of 24 cm, with a frost protection layer of 30 cm, and a bitumen spray and cement-stabilized base layer of 25 cm.
Capacity: Designed to handle up to 150 tons per vehicle, with an annual capacity of 40 million tons of coal.
Safety: Fully ensures safety for heavy-duty vehicles and adheres to international standards.
Completion: The project was successfully completed and handed over to the State Commission in September 2014.
Background: The previous dirt road lacked engineering structures and drainage systems, leading to severe dust pollution and visibility issues, contributing to accidents and environmental degradation. The road’s poor condition also resulted in damage to pastures and increased pollution. The Mongolian government decided to address these issues by constructing a high-standard road to enhance environmental protection and improve living conditions for local residents.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
RDCC LLC manages road maintenance and safety throughout the concession period. At the end of the concession period, the road is transferred to state ownership at no cost, thus becoming public property.
