Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results fo Year 2011

YOKOHAMA, Japan (Jan. 27, 2012) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for December and the calendar year 2011.

1. Production

Nissan's global production in 2011 increased 14.3% year-on-year to 4,632,375 units, achieving an all-time calendar year record.
 

Production in Japan decreased 1.8% year-on-year to 1,112,995 units, despite increased exports of Rogue and Juke, due to the impact of the earthquake on March 11 and the end of the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.
 

Overseas production increased 20.5% year-on-year to 3,519,380 units, reaching a record high for a calendar year.
 

Production increased in the U.S., the U.K., Mexico and Spain. In China, production increased 22.2% year-on-year to 1,237,468 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.
 

Production in other regions, mainly India and Brazil, increased 31.9% year-on-year to 476,832 units.
 

2. Sales

Global sales in 2011 increased 14.4% year-on-year to 4,669,981 units, setting an all-time calendar year record.
 

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 591,312 units in Japan, down 8.4% year-on-year, despite the impact of the earthquake on March 11 and the end of the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles. Market share in Japan was up one percentage point year-on-year to 14.0%.
 

In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations in 2011 decreased 10.7% year-on-year to 445,880 units, despite increased demand for Serena, Juke and Lafesta Highway Star.
 

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were down 0.5% from the previous year to 145,432 units, despite increased demand for Moco.
 

Sales outside of Japan increased 18.7% year-on-year to 4,078,669 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.
 

Sales increased in the U.S., Europe, China and other regions. In China, sales increased 21.9% year-on-year to 1,247,738 units, setting an all-time calendar year record.
 

Sales in other regions, mainly Thailand, Brazil, Indonesia and India, increased 16.0% year-on-year to 782,138 units.
 

3. Japan Exports

Nissan's exports for the year 2011 increased 6.8% year-on-year to 716,390 units.
 

Exports to North America increased 14.0% year-on-year to 411,952 units, mainly due to increased demand for Rogue and Juke.
 

Exports to Europe increased 39.9% year-on-year to 99,784 units, mainly due to increased demand for X-TRAIL and Juke.
