Nissan engineer provides practical guidance to you, owners of Nissan vehicles, to help optimize performance, reliability and safety of your automobiles.

Engine lubrication.
Replace engine oil and filter every 5000km, if you are using mineral oil, and every 6,000km, if you use synthetic oil. Should one wish to maintain reliable performance by the lubrication system, under severe continental climate, when often summer temperatures rise above 400C and when in winter temperatures fall below -400C, it is essential to give high priority to use of quality oils, technical indicators of which conform to international standards.

Cooling system.
Purchase coolants that remain in liquid phase at -400C, and have it replaced at a service centre. Consult a mechanic at Nissan Centre, should you wish to know the boiling and freezing temperatures of the coolant you use.

Charging system.
During exploitation, there is a danger for particles and/or water to get into the fuel tank, therefore, check your fuel filter frequently and replace it, if required. If your car has a diesel engine, use winter fuel and consult a mechanic for reliability of the injection pumps, and fuel filters. Should you encounter problems with starting the vehicle, make sure to have the fuel devices, fuel injector and injection angle checked and adjusted, if necessary.

Power transmission system, gearbox.
Have the gearbox and transmission reducer checked. If sucked with water, the quality of the oil may decrease to lower wear-resistance, it may also cause more friction. Do not try to start by force, as you may damage the propeller or drive shaft. In these cases, it is inevitable to have the system diagnosed.

Gasoline engines.

The main role of the starting device is to ensure the appropriate mixture of air and fuel, depending on the coolant’s temperature, and control of the sparking process. One will require a better quality starting plug, if the engine and in-coming air temperature is low and thus the air-fuel mixture “richer”. Insufficient performance by the starting plug will cause accumulation of fuel in the cylinders, and as a result, the plug may get wet and thus will not spark. This will also increase fuel consumption. Replace your starting plugs at each 10,000-20,000km.

Diesel engines.
In order to ensure enduring performance by heaters, have them checked by a mechanic. During the wintertime, reliability of your vehicle in large depend on smooth performance by the starter and the ability of the battery to re-charge itself properly.

Brake system
As the brakes and the driving mechanism, are the most important parts that provide safety, the owner should pay due attention to work by these parts of the vehicle. Although wearing-out of the brake pads is less severe in wintertime, it is still vital that one has them checked.

Adjustment of the axle.
In order to avoid gliding, and to secure safe driving, one should make sure that mechanic adjusts the steering gear, linkages and ball points.

Interior and exterior lighting system.
During cold seasons when there is less daylight, we consume more power by using the heaters and exterior lights. In this regards, it may be helpful to check whether the dynamo and its belts are in proper condition. In addition, do test and adjust, if necessary, the exterior lights.

Battery.
This is another part of your vehicle that require due attention. Consumption of electrical power increase, when we start a frozen engine, frequently use the lighting and heat the cabin, continuously.

Air conditioning and heating.
In order to secure comfortable riding, we need to cool or heat the air, and allow smooth air exchange in the cabin. Make sure you obtain proper services on this system. In particular, have the salon air filters replace, make sure in the coolant is filled-up to the top, and the air is fully pressed out of the cooling system.

Tires.
. In order to avoid gliding and ensure safe driving, we advise you to use winter tires that have special rubber compound to improve traction and braking. As such, you will protect yourself and the passengers from unforeseen danger.

We advise you to follow Nissan engineer’s recommendations and check the vehicle on your own and visit the Nissan Centre for obtaining other related to your vehicle recommendations. During these chilly days, you will receive a warm welcome and excellent services, at the Nissan Centre.
